10.1. Arendje van den Berg, daughter of Ybe van den Berg, was born on October 5, 1888 in Aengwirden, Friesland, The Netherlands.
Arendje married Johannes Spaanstra, son of Pieter Spaanstra and Christina Mook, March 16, 1912 in Aengwiren, just one week before her brothers, sisters and parents emigrated to the United States of Amerika. Johannes was born in 1885 in Beetsterzwaag, Friesland.

Johannes and Arendje Spaanstra emigrated to the United States of Amerika in 1916 and made the passage on the steamer Nieuw Amsterdam, which like the steamer Noordam was operated by the Holland America Line. After passing all the formalities they were discharged to Johannes father i/l Ybe van den Berg, who would provide a temporary home for them at 1114 Wealthy Street in Grand rapids, Michigan.

The couple raised the following children:

11.1. [F] (i) Florence Spaanstra was born in 1914 in Beesterzwaag, Friesland.
11.2. [M] (ii) Pieter Spaanstra was still a baby of only a few months old at the time of the passage. He was born about 1916 in Beetsterzwaag, Friesland, where the yong family lived under the same roof as Johannes parents, Pieter Spaanstra and Christina Mook.

10.2. Sipke “Sadie” VandenBerg (van den Berg), daughter of Ybe van den Berg, was born on July 3, 1890 in Aengwirden, Friesland.
Sipke married Hendrik (Henri) Jacob DeGraaff (de Graaff), son of Hendrik Jacob de Graaff and Antje Prins, on September 3, 1913 in Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan, USA. Henri was born on September 15, 1891 in Alkmaar, Noor-Holland, The Netherlands.
